Inter RAO Export to build 3 Kazakh thermal power plants
MOSCOW, Nov 10 (PRIME) -- Inter RAO Export, a subsidiary of Russian power holding Inter RAO, will act as a general contractor in construction of the three thermal power plants in Kazakhstan, the Russian Energy Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
On Thursday, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov and his Kazakh counterpart Almassadam Satkaliyev signed a memorandum of understanding to build three thermal power plants in Kazakhstan.
“In order to ensure implementation of the projects, the sides expressed readiness to define Inter RAO Export as the Russian authorized company. The Kazakh authorized company will be defined during preparations of an intergovernmental accord,” the ministry said.
The thermal power plants will operate new coal-burning units.
The ministry also said that the two countries plan to continue working on other projects for upgrades and construction of power generating capacities in Kazakhstan.
